The Invitation to Prayer

Oh, my Divine Beloved,

always faithful in Your Love for me,

you invite me to converse with you,

but how indifferent and ungrateful I am,

submerged as I am

in the petty preoccupations of my ego-self,

distracted by fleeting pleasures.

You speak to me

and I don't hear you,

because I am wrapped up in my self.

I am deaf to Your invitation.

Awaken, oh soul of mine!

Pay attention to Your Creator.

Open yourself to His Life-giving Love.
